Phillips to lead Nine Man Board

New Nine Man Board Chairman Leonard Phillips

Leonard Phillips of Bluegrove accepts the position of chairman of the Nine Man Board from Jack Pickett Monday Night.

The Clay County Pioneer Association’s Nine Man Board chose Leonard Phillips of Bluegrove as its new chairman Monday night. He was welcomed into the position by outgoing chairman Jack Pickett.

Phillips will lead the board through next year’s Pioneer Reunion and Rodeo, when his third term on the board will come to an end. Phillips chose Brad Davidson as vice chairman and Zach Parker as arena director.

Nine man board members are elected to the board in threes, and serve a three-year term. In their third year, they take on a leadership role.

Board members starting their second year are Trey Mobley of Dean, Ross Cantrell of Vashti and Doug Vicars of Bellevue. This also is Vicars’ second term.

New to the board for the 81st annual Reunion and Rodeo are Mike Skinner of Jolly, in his second term, Jeff Jordan of Petrolia and E.C. Crump of Deer Creek.

Outgoing members are Pickett, Tony Moore of Deer Creek and Brandon Dunn of Pecan Grove. Moore and Dunn served as vice chairman and arena director, respectively.
