Rodeo queen contestants represent communities

The communities of Clay County are well represented as eight young ladies compete for the titles of rodeo queen and junior queen during the 80th annual Pioneer Reunion. For the first time in several years all of the candidates are from here.

The queen and junior queen will be crowned prior to Friday night rodeo.

Katie Jo Blanscet of Henrietta earned the title of rodeo queen during last year’s reunion, while Mikayla Graham of Bluegrove was named junior queen.

Katie Jo is the daughter of Frank and Sandra Blanscet, and is a student at Henrietta High School. Mikayla is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Graham, and attends Midway School.

Five will vie for the queen’s tiara.

Josey Cleveland of Joy is a freshman at Henrietta High School, and is sponsored by Heritage Real Estate, Howard Beeler of Henrietta and Scott Cleveland of Joy. She is the daughter of Scott and Sherry Cleveland.

Caitlin Fudge of Jacksboro, and representing Joy, from where she recently moved, is the daughter of Brad and Becky Fudge. She is a junior at Jacksboro High School. Fudge is sponsored by Kerr Cattle Company of Henrietta.

Cassie Pickett of Rock Springs, representing Henrietta, is a sophomore at Henrietta High School, and is sponsored by the Luke Halsell Ranch of Halsell. She is the daughter of Jack and Shell Pickett.

Laycee Collins of Deer Creek is a senior at Henrietta High School, and is sponsored by Coyote Creek of Henrietta. She is the daughter of Cody and Retta Collins.

Kyla Rater of Buffalo Springs is a sophomore at Vernon College, and is sponsored by Huskey Hat Company of Wichita Falls. She is the daughter of Kyle Rater and Darla Vieth.

Three are in the running for junior queen.

Kalico Burkes of Hurnville is a fifth grader at Henrietta Elementary, and is sponsored by Huskey Hat Company of Wichita Falls. She is the daughter of Chris and Dee Ann Littlefield.

Kolbi Martin of Joy is an eight grader at Windthorst Junior High, and is sponsored by Loftin Realty of Windthorst. She is the daughter of Billy and Elaine Martin.

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Riordan of Hurnville is a sixth grader at Henrietta Junior High, and is sponsored by Horton Ranch of Henrietta. She is the daughter of Chris and Penny Riordan.
